A Interview with Jim Dowell, Sales Manager Chiorino UK
What do you enjoy the most about working at Chiorino?
As a global leader, Chiorino are extremely innovative in their approach to the various markets we serve. There are always new developments coming into place and more on the horizon. It also helps to have a number of enthused colleagues who are willing to learn and not afraid to make considered decisions for the good of the business. This makes the conversations with existing and prospective customers interesting and exciting, and it’s very satisfying when we see a development turn into a success for our customers.
What are Chiorino like to work for?
Although it’s a worldwide company, it still has a family feel to it with both local & overseas colleagues. We all collaborate well together and love working as a team.
What does your day-to-day role entail?
It starts with an early rise to do the daily housekeeping, such as going over e-mails and the latest figures. Throughout the day I work with a great sales team who are always upbeat & ready for the whatever challenge they may face. Keeping the rest of the business informed of the team’s activities is key, as is ensuring they all know that their involvement is vital to the operation. The customer visits are the icing on the cake. It’s such an interesting and diverse industry to be involved in, and I always find that there’s something new to learn every day.
What makes Chiorino different to other companies you have worked for in the past
It’s innovative, progressive, a leader in product development and a powerhouse of knowledge. But at the end of the day, you do feel valued and that’s important, especially in these unusual times.
What has Chiorino got coming up that you’re looking forward to?
At this time of year, we get together to hear about the success Chiorino have had over the last period, as well as the future plans, strategies, innovation and development with the Chiorino group. This is always an exciting & interesting occasion. Usually it all takes place at HQ in Biella, Italy, but this year due to travel restrictions and social distancing this will be done remotely over a web conference platform. More locally, we’re already starting to look ahead at the challenges for 2021, such as how to tackle the ever-changing dynamic in the market place and how we as a sales team project ourselves to our customers. We already use conference platforms for internal training & meetings so we are moving forward in this respect, but I know we all will be looking forward to meeting as a team as soon as the pandemic eases.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
When it’s all over for the day, it’s blood, sweat & gears for me! Cycling away from the towns & cities on the road bike is a long-time passion of mine. I love long hills and fast descents, along with great scenery and company. A nice coffee and cake stop at a chosen cafe is always a nice reward during these rides. Of course, I also enjoy spending quality time with family at the weekend – eating out, going for long walks or just chilling in the garden with a cold beer.
